Toledo Chiropractor : Dr. Andy Wright

Dr. Wright was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Ohio. He was first introduced to chiropractic care at the age of five, when he fell and injured his back while playing outside. His parents, realizing that it wasn’t normal for a five year old to complain of back pain, took him to see their chiropractor, Dr. Jon Schwanz. After just a few adjustments, his back pain was relieved, therefore, he continued to visit the chiropractor regularly for check-ups and adjustments while growing up. “Most adults don’t realize that their back problems had their beginnings from various traumas which occurred when they were children. I was fortunate that my parents recognized the need for regular chiropractic care to maintain my health.”
After graduating with honors from Otsego High School in 2003, and having experienced the benefits of regular chiropractic adjustments, Dr. Wright decided to pursue a career in the profession. He chose to attend Bowling Green State University to study biology with a minor in chemistry (pre-chiropractic). He graduated with honors from BGSU in the spring of 2007, and in the fall, he traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to attend chiropractic school at Life University.
“I’ve always felt the need to help and serve others, and I knew chiropractic was the best path for me to do that. I had several injuries from high school sports and martial arts that had been corrected through chiropractic care. Without that care, I wouldn’t be walking or moving without spinal pain or pain in various joints. My worst injury was to my knee while playing soccer. The injury prevented me from bending the knee without pain, and running hurt even more. After several adjustments, I was up and running again at full speed without pain.”
During his time at Life University, Dr. Wright poured himself into his studies to become the best chiropractor possible. He attended the Gonstead Study Club regularly, learning the intricacies of analysis and adjusting to produce the best results. As soon as he was eligible he took the most difficult test available at Life University – the Gonstead Certification Exam. He passed the exam, and soon became an officer of the club. During his last year at Life, Dr. Wright served as president of the club. As president he mentored younger students, teaching them the proper technique for analysis and adjusting. The years of hard work in school paid off in solidifying the techniques he would be using to care for his patients. Dr Wright graduated from Life University with Magna Cum Laude honors, including the coveted Integrity and citizenship award.
In 2010, Dr. Wright met Dr. Pickens, a close colleague of Dr. Jon Schwanz, and also a Life University graduate. Dr. Wright was hoping to move back to his hometown area for employment, and Dr. Schwanz, having known Dr. Wright since he was five, thought that Dr. Pickens and he would make a good team. Dr. Wright was inspired by Dr. Pickens vision to provide comprehensive holistic health care to the greater Toledo area and joined the ABA Family Chiropractic team in May of 2011.
He eagerly looks forward to helping you and your family achieve optimal health.
