Introducing ABA Family Chiropractic Holistic Health Center Team

Meet Dr. Michael Pickens
The Chiropractor To See In Toledo

Dr. Pickens decided to pursue a career in health care, because he had a strong desire to help people who were in pain or sick. He specifically chose to become a chiropractor as result of the phenomenal results he experienced through chiropractic care of his own painful injury.

“I was amazed at the results. Although I experienced a little pain during the first couple of adjustments, I also experienced almost immediate relief of the pressure I had felt for months. I was adjusted three times in the first week, and by the end of that week, I was able to do squats again. Soon, I was able to surpass the previous weight I was lifting.” read more»

Meet Dr. Andy Wright
Dr. Andy Wright

Dr. Wright was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Ohio. He was first introduced to chiropractic care at the age of five, when he fell and injured his back while playing outside. His parents, realizing that it wasn’t normal for a five year old to complain of back pain, took him to see their chiropractor, Dr. Jon Schwanz. After just a few adjustments, his back pain was relieved, therefore, he continued to visit the chiropractor regularly for check-ups and adjustments while growing up.  “Most adults don’t realize that their back problems had their beginnings from various traumas which occurred when they were children. I was fortunate that my parents recognized the need for regular chiropractic care to maintain my health.” read more»

Meet Nancy L. Pickens RN, CWOCN, MS - Nutritional Counseling
Nancy L. Pickens, nutritional counseling

Nancy chose to become a registered nurse due to her interest in healing and a desire to help people understand their health problems. Her mother’s work as a public health nurse and her father’s disability related to back surgery were very instrumental in her decision to enter nursing school at the University of Michigan.

Her pursuit of nutrition as a second career was a gradual process that developed while investigating her son’s health problems and her own affliction with chronic sinusitis. Nancy and Mike’s middle son, Jason, was underweight as an infant with frequent diarrhea, and at age 2 ½ was diagnosed with celiac disease. read more»

Dr. Mike Asks some important questions of interest to Toledo residents - Chiropractor Toledo Dr. Mike Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
Where do most Toledo residents get their first subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every Toledo newborn.
