You’ll immediately feel at home the moment you walk in the door of our Toledo

If you’ve ever gone to a social event where you didn’t know anyone, you know how uncomfortable that can make you feel. Our goal is to eliminate every shred of apprehension and make you feel at home.

Since holistic health care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important that our relationship can go the distance. We’ve found that one of the best ways to have successful patient relationships is to explain everything in advance. No surprises!

The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you’ll enjoy. It’s as simple as that.

Deciding which treatment is best for you.

There is hardly a health problem which can’t be improved or resolved by the right natural treatment approach and enough time. Your body has a tremendous ability to heal itself with the proper care.

Using the safe effective therapies outlined on this website, the practitioners at ABA have been able to achieve excellent results with children and adults from infancy to 90 + years old. When you see Dr Pickens or Nancy, they will initially take an in-depth health history, which takes approximately ½ hour to complete, in order to determine which treatment approach or combination of treatments will bring about the quickest and longest lasting improvement in your condition.

During the history review, the Dr Pickens or Nancy will carefully listen to your list of symptoms/complaints, how they developed, and what aggravates or makes them better. They will ask what tests have been done to determine the cause of your condition and the tests’ results. Also, they will want to know what treatments have been tried and whether you benefited from them. Lifestyle factors, previous accidents and medications which might affect your condition, will all be reviewed. In addition, during your visit, your Dr Pickens or Nancy will discuss your goals for treatment and what you feel your lifestyle and finances will allow, and tailor a treatment program accordingly. Their goal will be to get the quickest, most comprehensive and longest lasting results possible.

In many cases only one treatment approach will be necessary, but in some cases a more comprehensive program of two or more therapies will be necessary to achieve satisfactory results. If Dr Pickens or Nancy are not positive they can help you, they may recommend a trial period of treatment. If you have a condition which definitely will not be helped by any of ABA’s therapies, you will be referred to the best person who might be able to help. You can always count on the practitioners at ABA being honest with you and having your best interests at heart.

Toledo Chiropractor explains his findings

Everything is explained in advance to our patients.

Time with the Dr Pickens and Nancy

On your first visit for chiropractic care, Dr Pickens needs time to review your health history, conduct a physical exam, and take X-rays (if necessary). As a result, this appointment may last 1-1/2 to 2 hours long.

For a spinal adjustment, your chiropractor usually needs 15 minutes. However, if you need adjustments on other joints – for example, your feet – then additional time may be scheduled.

For nutritional assessment or allergy treatment, an initial appointment will usually last 1 to 1-1/2 hours and follow-up appointments 15 min. to an hour.
